WHAT IS CANNABIS?

Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Cannabaceae. There are three types of cannabis plants: Sativa, Indica, and Hybrids. The flowers produce cannabinoids and terpenes that are used for medicinal and recreational purposes.

WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in cannabis that can produce effects such as pain relief, appetite stimulation, and anxiety reduction. THC and CBD are just two of approximately 100 known cannabinoids.

WHAT IS THC?

Short for tetrahydrocannabinol, THC is the most common cannabinoid in cannabis. It is the primary psychoactive cannabinoid responsible for the intoxicating “high” that may be experienced when consumed.

WHAT IS CBD?

Short for cannabidiol, CBD is another common cannabinoid in cannabis. When consumed, CBD affects various processes in your body but does not produce an intoxicating “high”.

HOW LONG DOES A CANNABIS HIGH LAST?

As Per Health Canada Regulations: Inhalation Duration Can last Up to 6 Hours. Ingestion Duration Can Last Up To 12 Hours.

WHAT DO I DO IF I’M TOO HIGH?

Try to be calm and remember all things pass. Try distracting yourself by watching a movie, listening to music, reading a book, or doing a puzzle or whatever else works for you. Try eating and make sure you drink plenty of water. If you are feeling distressed, call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 or 1-866-797-0007 (TTY). If you are experiencing a frighteningly rapid heartbeat, call 911.

HOW DOES CANNABIS GET YOU HIGH?

Humans and cannabis plants share similar chemical compounds called cannabinoids (in people, they’re known as endocannabinoids). We have cannabinoid receptor sites all over our bodies, to which the endocannabinoids bind. THC and CBD interact with these receptors and inhibit the way they function.

WHAT IS VAPING?

A vape device is a battery-powered accessory that heats a substance until it produces a vapour, which is then inhaled. Unlike smoking, which burns cannabis, vaping heats the product until it releases cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD.

WHAT IS A 510 CARTRIDGE?

‘510 threaded’ is a term used to describe the threading that connects vape cartridges and batteries – there are 10 screw threads and the cartridge is generally five millimeters in length (510).

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU EAT RAW CANNABIS?

Raw cannabis contains the non-psychoactive cannabinoid THCAHeating THCA converts it into THC, which creates a “high” feeling.. But eating raw weed, forgoes the heating process preventing the THCA from converting to THC, so there is no “high”.

WHAT ARE EDIBLES AND BEVERAGES?

Edible cannabis products are foods and drinks that have been infused with cannabis extracts, or concentrates, all of which contain active ingredients such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM EDIBLE AND BEVERAGES?

The THC and CBD in edible cannabis products are absorbed into the body through the digestive tract, are metabolized by the liver, and then released back into the bloodstream. The effects of edibles may be strong and could last 12 hours or more. With the consumption of any form of cannabis, intensity and longevity of the effects depend on a number of variables, , such as weight and sex, quantity of food eaten that day, and speed of the invidual’s metabolism.. When consuming any cannabis product microdosing is recommended.

WHAT IS MICRODOSING?

When trying a new cannabis product, always start slow and steady. Consuming too much THC at one time can overstimulate the body’s receptors and cause the two main side effects of cannabis consumption: anxiety and paranoia.

ARE EDIBLES SATIVA OR INDICA?

Edibles come in Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid.

HOW DO I KEEP MY CANNABIS FRESH?

The best way to keep your flower fresh is to keep it in a cool, dark, dry place. Light, heat, and moisture will all contribute to a change in the cannabinoids of your cannabis. Dark glass containers protect from harmful UV rays, while still allowing access to non-harmful UV rays.

SHOULD I MIX CANNABIS WITH ALCOHOL?

Combining cannabis and alcohol can lead to extreme intoxication, dizziness, and nausea. It can also result in lower concentration and slower reaction times. The combination of cannabis and alcohol can also increase the risk of pre-disposed or vulnerable people experiencing psychotic symptoms.

HOW DO I KEEP IT AWAY FROM MY KIDS AND PETS?

Cannabis products should be stored securely in child proof containers and kept safely out of reach of minors and pets.

CAN THC/CBD INFUSED DRINKS GO BAD?

While THC and CBD do not expire, the other consumable ingredients in infused drinks require a best before date.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR CANNABIS AND IS IT SAFE?

The Ontario Cannabis Store is the only wholesaler of legal recreational cannabis. Health Canada oversees quality control measures to ensure cannabis is top quality and safe to consume. For more information click here. ACMPR
